Kunjal Annaprashan

About Annaprasan: Annaprasan is a traditional hindu (of bengal) custom of feeding rice for the first time to the baby on 6th month. It is kind of introducing a new world of solid food to the baby.In our culture this day is celebrated in a grand way. All near and dear ones are invited to bless the baby for a prosperous life .

Kunjal's activity: We went to India in january for Kunjal's annaprasan ceremony. Since this was the first time everybody would see her so we wanted it to be a big occasion. Annaprashan ceremony was on 10th february and all our friends, neighbours and relatives were invited. The air was full of spicy aroma and invitees started pouring in from early morning. Kunjal's great grandmother (Kumar's grand mother) was happiest to see her.

We got ourselves ready and Kunjal was dressed in a beautiful hanbok (korean traditional dress).

About to leave for the temple

Temple visit: At 11 am we went to the temple by walk . Kunjal's aunt was carrying her. One funny thing was that she was holding the umbrella very tightly all along the way. She never let it free.

After reaching home the rice porridge or payesh brought from the temple was given to her by her maternal uncle and aunt.

she was more than happy to get so much attention and love. We were very happy to meet all our relatives and friends after a long time.

Lunch time
After the lunch all our aunts and uncles decided to dance and sing .It was full of fun and we all enjoyed the whole day.

ceremony after three days:- Three days later there was a ceremony at her maternal grandfather's house where her grandmother and aunt had prepared many dishes for her

all this is for me!!!
Kunjal's expression showed that the new taste surely was much better than same old baby food.
