Goyang Flower Show

Pre Travel Expectation:
About the Place: The Goyang flower show is conducted every year in the month of April-May, just beside the Lake park in Ilsan City. You can know more about Ilsan from wiki (Wiki URL for Ilsan) and more about the show from their Home Page (Flower Show HomePage)

Expectations: We had heard a lot about this flower show and thought of going there expecting to take some beautiful pictures with flowers. Also we knew the Flower show location is beside the 'Ilsan Lake Park'-the largest man-made lake in South Korea. It brought additional enthusiasm.

Accomodation: The flower show takes only around 2hrs to see all the flowers displayed unless you went there to collect data for your botany project. So basically there is no need to worry about hotel etc if you are planning just the flower show visit.

Food: There are some fast food counter to buy Noodles, Boiled Corn etc next to the flower show and of course lots and lots of restaurant if you move just around 500 metre away. (Well not towards the lake!!!!)

Post Travel Views:
Beyond Expectation:
a) The Lake park is really huge and beautiful.Agree !!! It is the biggest man made lake in Korea.
The Lake and the surrounding itself has the potential to keep you engaged for a few hours.Lot of entertainment facilities like double cycle on rent etc are available in that place.
b) The double cycle in this place were special in that they had a baby carrier atatched to the back of the cycle. So parents with very small kids were also able to enjoy bicycle riding along with thire small kids.Envy those kids....
c) There is a fountain show in the lake at around 8pm. If you have time you may like to wait and see the musical fountain show.(We missed it this time as we had to return a little early)

Below Expectation:
a) The crowd was so heavy that we could not take photographs comfortably. We had to find gaps between people to take shots. Considering the crowd that this show generates, the organisers should consider making it a little more spacious in future.
b) The ticket price of 6000won for adult and 4000won for kids looked little expensive compared to the show that they have put. The beauty of the Lake park compensates it though.

Tips:

If posible use public transporation to reach there. If you must use car then you may continue to read below.
a) The parking lot is little far from the main show area and it is really difficult to find parking space if you reach after 12pm in the afternoon.More than a hour may be wasted just to park your car and reach the place during the flower show festival week.So if possible reach before noon.
b) There is a home plus (Departmental Store) very near to the FLower show location. If you have weekly shopping to do, better park your car there and then do some shopping before leaving so that your parking is free.

Hankyong National University in Anseong

This month we visited Hankyong national university in Anseong . We went there to meet our friend Chiranjit. He took us all around the campus. Need less to say this university too like other korean universities is quite scenic and beautifully maintained. Its the only National University of Gyeonggi province.

Beautiful campus.

The cafeteria and its surroundings is very scenic and full of cherry blossom trees.
Flower gardens around.

It was nice looking around the campus.

We also had a short drive in and around the Anseong City before returning.

Visit to Waojongsa Temple

Pre Travel Expectation:
Information: The Temple is located in Yongin City. Its around 48km south of Seoul and 20km from the Korean Folk Village. The Temple preserves the world famous lying Buddha which was made from Chinese junipers brought in from India. In addition, it preserves the world's first wooden Buddha according to the Guiness Book of Records, and the Jang-Yuk Jon and the Sang-oh Jon-bul, Buddhas made of brass.More detailed history and importance of this temple is mentioned in their Website (The temple Home Page)

Temple MAP:

Expectation: We had visited this temple earlier as well. This was our 2nd visit to the temple.
Its a nice place to spend 2-3 hours. Its located on Yunwha Mountain and is quite scenic.
Its little different from typical indoor buddha temples of Korea. The whole area looks more of a tourist location in contrast to traditional temple where we see lots of priests and people worshiping.

Photos in and around the Temple:

Post Travel Views:
Beyond Expectation:
(a) The scenic beauty of the place steals you away from the hustle bustle of busy city life.

(b) This is a good place to be added to your itnerary if you are visiting Korean folk village or other nearby attraction. It would take around 2-3hrs to completely see the place.

Below Expectation:
There are a few Korean restaurant in that place but no other alternatives for food. Better carry your own food.

Tips:
Be ready to do some uphill walking since the whole temple location is spread around mountain valleys.
