Kolkata sightseeing Trip

This time on our yearly vacation trip to India we visited Kolkata for few days. We reached there on 11th of Jan and our parents joined us there as well. We had pre planned the dates so that we could enjoye a few days of outing together. We visited some of the landmarks of Kolkata along with visit to our relatives houses in and around the City.


Lot of high rises in and around Rajarhat.Rajarhat is new extension of City next to Salt lake.

These malls are the new hangouts for people.

Glimpse of Kolkata

Our sight seeing begin with the famous Dakshineshwar temple located on the banks of Ganges. The temple was constructed in the year 1855 by Queen Rasmani .

Visible from Dakshineshwar and located on the other side of Ganga is Belur math-head quarter of Ramkrishna mission.We took water ferry to cross the river and visit Belur math.

The next day we visited Nicco park. This amusement park is quite big and takes full day to enjoy it to fullest but we could spend just around an hour or so as we had more destinations to cover.

Kunjal excited as what to see next.

The next place we went was science city.It had lots of hands on experiments to do . We all enjoyed there a lot specially Kunjal.

Our next destination was Birla planetarium ,where one gets to know about the stars constellations and more astronomical things.

The maidan area of Kolkata is most probably the only huge open space in the heart of the city . Its a nice place to sit and relax . The horse carts waiting in front of victoria memorial takes you for a ride around the maidan.
