Day Trip To D.M.Z

About DMZ: It’s often said that the Korean Demilitarized Zone, or DMZ, is the most dangerous place on Earth. It is the 4km strip of land separating the two Koreas bristles with troops, guard posts, tanks, missile, bunkers, gun emplacements, land mines and other tools of death and destruction.
For detailed Information about the Location please check the VisitKorea Website.

We reached DMZ thinking it would be some hilly terrain with Army everywhere but the DMZ Entry was infact a big park with fountains and other facilities.

The park near the parking lot at DMZ.Navodit,Kunjal and Nirupam.

Another Picture of the park.

After spending some time in the park it was time to get deep into the border area. We got tickets to Visit the observatory from where North Korea is Visible. To buy tickets foreigner need to show their Passport and Residents require to show their Registration Card. Those foreigners who are residing in Korea need to show they Alien Registration Card.

We took the BUS and reached the Observatory in around 20 min.Now we could slowly see the Army guarding the border. From the observatory we used the binocular to peep into the North Korean territory.

Taking Pictures of the North Korean territory is not allowed. Some people took photos but the Security guard took their camera and deleted the picture and warned not to do it again.

At the border .

One can see the no mans land between north and south Korea through these telescopes.

On the way back we dropped by the Train station. The last station in South Korea. It was very clean and neatly maintained station. Not many trains came till here.Only a few tour train per day visited this station.

The last railway station of south Korea..
